In 1945, a group of Kalamazoo residents, who were concerned about the well-being of older adults, raised funds to purchase a building that would become the first community for residents to enjoy independent living and activities. They also provided the assurance that if, through unexpected circumstances, they could no longer cover their own living costs, their home would always be secure at Heritage Community of Kalamazoo.
Today, the Heritage Community of Kalamazoo Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization established to support the charitable needs of Heritage Community of Kalamazoo and the residents who live here. With donations of all sizes and types, the Heritage Community of Kalamazoo Foundation continues to assure residents a home, develop new programs and initiatives, provide scholarships to nursing staff and expand our capacity to better serve our community now and in the years ahead.
