Heritage Community Centers of Excellence
At Heritage Community of Kalamazoo (HCK), we constantly strive to create an organization that provides exceptional quality of care, service, and lifestyle for our Michigan Senior Housing residents. To achieve that goal, we created the HCK Centers of Excellence designed to cut across a broad spectrum of needs and address issues common to most of our residents in MI Assisted Living.
We currently have five Centers of Excellence:
Dementia & Alzheimer’s Care
Memory loss and cognitive impairment are important issues for many seniors. While HCK has two distinct centers to serve those with mid/late stage dementia, we know that many others may be in the early stages of memory loss. Therefore, we want to have staff knowledgeable of the disease process, facilities that enhance the security of residents and awareness throughout our organization of memory care treatment approaches.
- Best Friends™care model, an internationally acclaimed model of care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and/or dementia.
- Advancing best practices and adopting new approaches to dementia care.
- A progressive environment focused on a culture of person-centered care.

Life Enrichment
We are committed to creating and sustaining a culture of living at HCK that is the embodiment of “celebrating Life and honoring the Soul” which is the first line of our Mission. Taking a person-centered approach we ensure that each MI Assisted Living resident is provided with the opportunity to enrich their experience at HCK through innovative programs designed to enhance their mind, body and spirit, and we also have a lot of fun at HCK too!!
- Nationally acclaimed health and fitness programs developed specifically for older adults.
- “Community Connection” a current event speaker series addressing informative topics of the day.
- Participation in cultural events, social activities and outings that take place throughout the general community.

Exceptional Staff
We want the best people possible working throughout HCK, caring for our residents and making sure your experience with HCK is a special one and you are treated the way you would like to be treated.
Being a member of the HCK team is a privilege and we spend time ensuring that each staff member receives the support, training and education needed to be successful. We are very proud of our staff.

Exceptional Quality
Providing compassionate care is at the heart of our Mission and is achieved by our commitment to providing each Michigan Senior Housing resident an exceptional level of care. Every resident is an individual with individual needs. Throughout HCK our focus is on creating and sustaining a culture whereby exceptional quality of care is always provided for our residents.

Customer Service
Everyone at HCK is committed to providing the best experience possible for Michigan Senior Housing residents, families and visitors. We are committed to a culture where HCK staff amaze people by providing superior customer service and treating them as they would like to be treated.
We love what we do at HCK and our focus on customer service is our commitment to provide the “high touch” aspects of caring for seniors. Our on-going goal is to continue to be recognized for excellence in customer services characterized by a staff that is friendly, professional and focused on meeting the needs and desires of our residents.
