At the Heritage Community of Kalamazoo (HCK), we have developed a culture that we fondly call “The HCK Way” and we spend a considerable amount of time and resources to bring exceptional staff on board who embrace this culture.
Heritage Community of Kalamazoo (HCK) is a very special place. It is home to the Michigan Nursing Home residents who live here and because of the diversity of buildings, people, and cultures it’s also a vibrant community.
The staff at HCK have the unique privilege and opportunity to work within this vibrant community. And while we’re here, we also become a part of the fabric of this special community. Unlike many other work environments, we actually become friends and neighbors of the residents and staff of HCK. This is not only encouraged but it’s an important part of the expectations for staff.
As the only community in this region licensed to provide training in the internationally acclaimed Best Friends™ approach, all staff selection and training embraces this person centered approach to providing care.
Additionally, we have created a strong culture of customer service excellence to ensure that all staff treat others as they would like to be treated.
We also value technical excellence and ensure through selection and training that HCK staff have an excellent grasp of the required skills and tasks for their roles. But we equally value the traits and qualities that make this a special place to live, visit, and work: The HCK Way.
